Over the first year of this project, as the teachers and students were introduced to the iPods and started to get comfortable using them, these are some of the earliest ways they were used in classes:

  • to do research - students loved having the internet at their fingertips, especially during the Olympics!
  • using many of the built in apps like calculator, maps, memos
  • journal writing
  • blogging
  • using reference apps, like English / French translation
  • Poll Everywhere for quick surveys, quizzes

Other findings in the first year:

  • there is a consistently high level of engagement among the students
  • discovered the importance of conversations about Digital Citizenship
